Description
Yamaha CLP-875WH Clavinova | High-End Digital Piano with GrandTouch Keyboard and Grand Acoustic Imaging
The Yamaha CLP-875WH Clavinova is designed for pianists seeking an upright digital piano capable of approaching the performance of a grand piano in touch, sound, and projection. It is part of the new CLP-800 series and combines a GrandTouch keyboard with resonance modeling technologies and an advanced acoustic system that envelops the performer in a natural sound field. It is an ideal instrument for study, teaching, and demanding home use.
Realistic Playing Experience: GrandTouch Keyboard with Wooden Keys
The CLP-875 is equipped with Yamaha’s GrandTouch keyboard, featuring 88 keys with wooden white keys, synthetic ebony and ivory keytops, and an escapement mechanism. The 88-key Linear Graded Hammers system provides a distinct weight grading on every key, emulating the behavior of a grand piano across the entire register.
The keyboard response allows for precise control of dynamic nuances, offering a solid and balanced playing feel. The GrandTouch pedals with GP Response Damper reproduce the characteristic resistance and return of a grand piano’s pedals, facilitating the control of half-pedaling and resonance effects.
Concert Sound: Yamaha CFX, Bösendorfer Imperial, and Fortepianos
The Yamaha CLP-875 Clavinova incorporates the sounds of the Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial concert grand pianos, captured with high-resolution sampling and binaural sampling for headphone performance.
These samples offer a wide dynamic range, from delicate pianissimos to powerful fortissimos, with great harmonic richness.
The instrument features 38 main voices, including concert pianos, electric pianos, organs, strings, and more, as well as fortepiano voices that allow for the performance of classical repertoire from eras like Mozart or Chopin with a historically closer sound to the original.
Grand Acoustic Imaging: Immersive Grand Piano-Style Sound
The Grand Acoustic Imaging technology in the CLP-875 reproduces the spatial sensation of a grand piano, distributing the sound in a three-dimensional manner.
The 3-way speaker system with diffusers and bidirectional horn tweeters is designed so that bass, mid-range, and treble project as they would from the soundboard and structure of an acoustic piano. The result is an immersive and balanced sound field, making the performer perceive the sound as if it originated from the body of the piano itself.
Modeling and Expression Technologies
The CLP-875 incorporates Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM), which simulates in real-time the resonances of sympathetic strings, soundboard, and cabinet, based on pedal usage and note layering.
The Grand Expression Modeling technology translates the depth, speed, and intensity of the key press into natural tonal and dynamic changes, allowing for the control of phrasing and articulation very similarly to an acoustic grand piano.
These technologies work together with the new tone generator of the CLP-800 series to offer a more nuanced and realistic sound response.
Connectivity and Advanced Features
The Yamaha CLP-875 Clavinova includes Bluetooth Audio/MIDI connectivity for wireless audio playback from smart devices and for cable-free MIDI communication.
It features USB to Host and USB to Device ports for computer connection and external storage, as well as audio inputs and outputs and two headphone outputs for silent practice.
The control panel with touch sensors maintains a clean and modern aesthetic and is compatible with the Yamaha Smart Pianist application, which facilitates instrument control, digital sheet music viewing, song analysis, and sound/parameter configuration.
The multi-track MIDI recording system and WAV audio recording via USB allow for the recording of performances and study exercises.
Elegant Design and Refined Acoustics
The design of the CLP-875 combines the form of an upright digital piano with details from the Clavinova line, such as the folding lid, integrated music rest, and clean cabinet lines.
It is available in various finishes, including black, polished black, and light or dark wood finishes depending on the version. The 3-way speaker system with diffusers and bidirectional horns and the use of spruce cones in the main speakers contribute to a clear and warm sound projection, suitable for both domestic rooms and academic or small concert spaces.
