What Is TransAcoustic™ Technology?

TransAcoustic™ technology transforms the piano’s own soundboard into a natural speaker through an internal transducer.

This allows volume control while the sound continues to expand physically through the instrument, maintaining the resonance and vibration characteristic of a real acoustic piano.

Unlike other hybrid systems, the Yamaha B20TC3 preserves the physical connection with the instrument even at reduced volumes, creating a more immersive and natural experience.

The TC3 system also incorporates Yamaha technology with binaural sampling, Grand Expression Modeling and non-contact sensors to ensure precision, natural response and faithful touch sensitivity.

Its newly developed hammers, inspired by the Yamaha CFX concert grand piano, together with the redesigned soundboard, improve tonal clarity, sound stability and harmonic richness.

In addition, its five back posts reinforce the instrument’s structure and help maintain balanced and stable resonance.

Differences Compared to the Yamaha B2 TransAcoustic™

The Yamaha B20TC3 Piano replaces the previous Yamaha B2 TransAcoustic™, incorporating significant improvements in resonance, design and playing experience.

The increase in height from 113 cm to 116 cm allows for broader sound projection and a wider dynamic range. It also incorporates a new hammer design, enlarged music rest and integrated soft-close mechanism.

Its larger music rest improves comfort during daily practice and makes it easier to use large sheet music.
